We strive for circular recycling where plastics are used again and again. We're constantly making strides towards reducing our overall environmental footprint, and use fit for purpose packaging so we don't use more plastic than we really need to.
Our challenge is to get a balance between ensuring food safety and our environmental sustainability goals – we will never compromise food safety!
The MADE trays are recyclable (PET #1). The wool in our innovative wool pouch is compostable. Our boxes are 100% kerbside recyclable, using 50% recycled cardboard. We are making as much as of our packaging as kerbside recyclable - they are the experts.
We're very close to becoming a 'zero food waste business' and that's something we're super proud of. Our menus are planned to give you perfect portions, and the produce that doesn't make its way into your Food Bag or Bargain Box is returned and on-sold. Any bags we don't use are given to families in need, and at the end of the day when our recipe testing is complete, we pack it up and give it to the good folks at Kiwi Harvest.
We source our ingredients locally, reducing the distance ingredients need to travel to reduce carbon emissions. And finally, we optimise the route planning to make sure that the delivery vehicle travels the shortest distance. If you compare the carbon footprint of the vehicle’s delivery route with the emissions associated with 50 individual shopping trips, there is a significant saving in terms of CO2 released.
We consider sustainability in all actions we make and strive to better ourselves daily.
